The <strong>first 9 centres<\/strong> joined, and the first multi-centre studies were launched to assess the validity of new diagnosis and treatment protocols for acute leukaemia. New multi-centre studies were developed nationwide. GIMEMA becomes&nbsp;<em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ca0f2b\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Gruppo Italiano Malattie Ematologiche Maligne dell\u2019Adulto<\/mark><\/em>, Malignant Adult Haematological Diseases Italian Group. In fact, the translational research activity began in the GIMEMA studios.
